Well, we finally got halfway transferred over to b5media, and now The Beauty Blog is officially eBeautyDaily! That was quite the stressful move, even from my perspective, as nothing but a blogger. I cannot imagine what the honchos were really going through. I did get a bit of an inside peek by working with the developer on troubleshooting some issues, lucky me! Shai Coggins explained that the deal enables the networks and theirbloggers to benefit from each other’s strengths and strategies.

“This merger is like a marriage in the world of bloggingnetworks,” said Coggins. “b5media and About Weblogs arecoming together like two people with different strengths, personalitiesand opportunities, but with very similar visions and goals. We need these similarities and differences to make a good partnership. And, Ibelieve that we’re a great fit. I’m definitely looking forward to working with Jeremy, Darren, Duncan, and the rest of thewonderful b5 team.”

Duncan Riley of b5media explained that the full integration of all the About Weblogs blogs would take a number of weeks.

“As with any merger there are a number of technical issues tosort out.However, we would expect that all blogs would be fully integrated into b5media by the end of November”.

Well, it is finally official--we are joining the b5media network! Ooh, I hate to keep a secret--especially one that is so exciting to me.

I remember back in July, when I came on to AboutWeblogs,I was so nervous about actually writing a blog that someone mightactually see (LOL). Well I have stepped in it now! My hubby thinks I amscared of success, and he is right. I am shaking in my Pink Wellies, but unbelievably excited to be working with the geniuses (in my mind anyway) at b5.

Shai keeps talking about this merger in relation to a courtship andmarriage--there is something kinda sexy about that for sure. Maybe thatis why we are so excited! :)

I have moved the Superbugwiki Discussion Group over to the MRSA Resources Forum today. These things take such a massive amount of time--but I always learn so much from trying to transfer a MySql database. So all is well now. Hallelujah :)

I need to write so many letters...

I can tell I am getting older. I have WAY less patience than I used to have (I used to have TONS!).

Everything I see that is unjust, unAmerican, and just UN GOOD, I feel I need to write someone a letter about it. But I dont. I guess I know that all it will do is cause ME a PITA in the long run.

For instance, last year in January, our 5 year old son chose the time when my hubby and I were in the grocery store bank to pitch a temper tantrum, because he didnt want to be there. I marched him out to the car while my husband finished our bank business. He then needed to walk down the sidewalk to Verizon to check on his cell phone contract. I left my son in the car, with the windows cracked, and I walked down the sidewalk with my husband (no more than 30 yards away, middle of the afternoon/school day--had a straight line of vision to my son every second), stood outside of Verizon, for no more than 5 minutes. My son pressed his mouth up against the open windows of the truck, and screamed bloody murder.

My point was, that despite his best attempts, we WERE going to do our business, rather than cater to a 5 year old tantrum. When we went back to the truck, started the engine, started to pull out, 5 (yes FIVE) police cars pulled in front of us. We were questioned, Noah was questioned, and we were harrassed for leaving our son unaccompanied in the truck (they actually said--Do you know it can be 10 degrees more in the car than it is outside??---it was SIXTY NINE degrees outside!). They told us we were terrible parents, and proceeded to give us $650 worth of tickets. Talk about wanting to raise HELL, but we decided that we didnt want to deal with the aftermath of that kind of hell raising. I think I will always regret NOT raising hell on that one.

Gee, it makes you wonder why there are so many folks in prison, eh? Apparently they WANT to be the ones to discipline everyone, they sure as HELL dont want the parents to do that job anymore!

I would like to know when/why cops became so sensitive to being cursed? Isnt that part of their job to take a bit of cursing? I see all of the time now where they have called for backup, or gotten extremely rough with someone JUST because they cursed them. I think that is ridiculous, and a sign of our society going downhill. I was just watching a story on CNN where a 5 months pregnant black woman was handled roughly, pushed down to the ground, just because "directed an expletive" towards the policeman. http://aolsvc.news.aol.com/news/article.adp?id=20040928172009990003

Dont get me wrong, I do not think it is right to be able to get away with disrespecting the police, that IS their job to command respect and command the situation, HOWEVER, if they are too pansy to be able to take a bad word or two without losing their temper and their sense, do they really need to be in that position????????

I've seen Ben Garant's name around while watching TV, and always wondered if he was the Ben Garant that I went to high school with (his southern accent made me think he MUST be), and finally did a search on him, and whaddya know :) He certainly is! It always makes me proud to see the successful people that come out of Knoxville/Farragut High School! I can remember (oh so long ago) seeing David Keith running about the school--even though he was several years older than me, he used to come frequently to visit his friend, Ginger, who was the drama teacher at FHS. Up until last year, when we moved to TX, I would see him pretty frequently at concerts and theater performances in Knox. The bizarre Quentin Tarrintino was raised in Knoxville for part of his youth (Bearden) as well. Also, the comic book writer Lowell Cunningham went to college in Knoxville, and was a friend of Gay Bryant, who is a great friend of mine. Lowell wrote the Men in Black comic book series, which was turned into the movies bearing the same name, and co-wrote the screenplays for those movies as well.

If my kids would ever wake up, we have things to do today! Gotta get ready for this party, it looks like the rain is going to end, and we might could have this party outside after all! We have 6 girl scouts on the hook for the party (Zoe's Dance/Sleepover Party), and we have lots to do to prepare!!!
